Failure criteria in crashworthiness analysis of ship collision and grounding using FEA: Milestone and development

This study presents reviews of the failure criteria to capture resulting response due catastrophe ship collision and grounding using finite element. Researchers have introduced several criteria, for instance, DNV RP-C204 criterion, Germanischer Lloyd Peschmann, RiceTracey Cockcroft-Latham (RTCL), Bressan-Williams-Hill (BWH) instability Liu criterion. As in mathematical formula, each criterion has a difference. The choice will depend on simulation's specific requirements analysis's goals. Liu's can be used evaluate materials simulations, example, when large element sizes (i.e., 20 mm) are considered simulation.
